Date: July 5, 2014 Event: Queen + Adam Lambert Type: Concert Televised: No Venue: The Joint City: Las Vegas State: Nevada Country: United States |
Highlights
The first of two Las Vegas shows, held at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
This is the smallest, most intimate venue of the entire tour, with a seated capacity of 3,000. Unlike the arena shows, the staging is simpler. Noticeably absent, are the giant Q, catwalk, mini stage and screamers (side extensions of the main stage). The chaise lounge – the highlight of "Killer Queen" – however, is retained, but takes place on the main stage unlike previous shows.
Tidbits:
- Just before "Somebody to Love", Adam declares, "We're in the church of glam rock now, are you ready? Halleloo!" And to church he does take the audience to, with a gospel-infused, clearly Aretha-inspired rendition of the song. Towards the end of the song, he even attempts a hilarious call-and-response preacher routine with the participative audience.
